James J. Majauskas, 78, of Thomaston passed away Wednesday August 12, 2026 at Vitas Healthcare in Waterbury. He was the husband of the late Mary (Schiller) Majauskas, his wife of 40 years.
Jim was born August 2, 1948, son of the late John and Victoria (Klimas) Majauskas. He was raised in Watertown and graduated from Kaynor Technical High School in Waterbury. Jim was a Vietnam War Veteran and served as a sergeant in the US Army. After being honorably discharged, he went to work as a toolmaker for Risdon Manufacturing. He met his wife Mary at Risdon, the couple was married on April 19, 1975. He was a member of the Oakville VFW Post 7330.
Jim’s passion was building classic muscle cars. He and his cars could be seen at area car shows where he received many awards.
He leaves behind a son Mike Majauskas and his wife Catherine of Thomaston, his twin brother Frank Majauskas of Thomaston, a brother Richard Majauskas and his wife Evelyn of Fairfax Station, VA, a grandson Zachary Ocskasy of Bloomfield, and a niece Cathy Graham of Kentucky.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday August 17th at 10:00am at St. John the Evangelist Church, 574 Main St. Watertown. Friends are asked to meet directly at church. Burial with military honors will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Platt Rd. Watertown. Friends may call at the Hickcox Funeral Home, 195 Main St. Watertown, Sunday August 16th from 2:00-4:00pm.
