It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Renee Lynn Kight, age 37, of Waterbury, CT on October 3, 2026. Renee was born on October 21, 1988 and leaves behind a lifetime of memories cherished by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Renee was a graduate of W.F. Kaynor Regional Vocational Technical High School, where she discovered her passion for cars while working in the auto body shop. She held an Associate’s Degree from Naugatuck Valley Community College and went on to graduate from the International Institute of Cosmetology, earning her certificate after achieving the highest score in the state, an accomplishment that reflected her determination, talent, and dedication. Most recently, Renee opened her own online consignment shop, combining her entrepreneurial spirit with her lifelong love of fashion.

From a young age, Renee could often be heard singing her favorite songs. Her love of music followed her throughout her life. She enjoyed karaoke and loved creating her own music and videos to share with her social media audience.

Renee was always the most beautiful girl in the room, both inside and out. She proudly competed in the Miss Teen USA Beauty Pageant, where she placed in the Top 10. But to those who loved her, she was always number one.

Renee had an enormous love for animals. Most recently, she became a proud bearded dragon mom to her beloved “Set”, whom she adored. She loved creating funny and entertaining videos of him and sharing them with the world.

Renee was incredibly creative and found joy in crafting, sewing, baking cupcakes, and expressing herself in countless ways. She had a wonderful sense of humor and an ability to make anyone laugh. No matter what the circumstances were, Renee had a way of brightening a room and bringing a smile to those around her.

October was always a special month for Renee. Not only was it her birthday month, but it also brought her favorite holiday—Halloween. She looked forward to celebrating every year and loved going all out with her costumes. She always wanted to be dressed to impress, making sure she had the best costume in the room.

Above all, Renee had the biggest heart for the people she loved. She never missed an opportunity to make her family feel special, whether through a birthday card, a Mother’s Day or Father’s Day card, or simply by letting someone know she was thinking of them. She gave love freely and left an unforgettable impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.

In addition to her mother Jonna (DiLeo) Fortier and stepfather Michael Fortier of Wolcott and her father James Kight and his significant other Jeannie Cooke of Waterbury, Renee is survived by her paternal grandmother Mary (Dacey) Kight of Waterbury; and her maternal grandparents Joseph and Claire (Montambault) DiLeo of Waterbury. She also leaves her sisters Jaclyn (Kight) McNally and her husband William of Chicago, IL and Natalie Kight of Wolcott; her stepsister Colleen Fortier and her fiancé Nicholas Medina of Terryville, and her stepbrother David Fortier of Waterbury as well as her beloved nieces and nephews Emma, Billy, Avielle, Mason, Matthew, Carmella, Indie, and Axel, who will forever carry memories of their Aunt Renee in their hearts. Renee was predeceased by her paternal grandfather John Kight.

Renee’s life touched so many people in ways that will never be forgotten. Her laughter, creativity, beauty, kindness, and unforgettable personality will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Rest peacefully, Renee. You were loved more than words can ever express, and you will be missed more than you could ever know.
