PROSPECT – Steven Craig Sturges, Sr., born in Waterbury on Feb. 18, 1957, died Nov. 30 after a long battle with melanoma cancer. He leaves behind is beloved wife of 43 years, Pamela J (Turner). He is the son of the late Howard K. and Betty (Jane Baker) Sturges.

Sturges graduated from Keynor Technical High School with his certificate in Tool & Die Making. He worked for Watertown Jigbor, Sylivana, Mattatuck Mfg., Thermo Conductor Services and Packard Inc before starting his own company HJS Lawncare and Landscape. He was a Cub Scout master and Boy Scout leader. He is a lifetime member of the Volunteer Fire Department of Prospect, where he was a member since Jan. 1983.

Besides his wife, he leaves behind his sons Steven C. Sturges Jr. of Prospect, Joseph K. and Kimberly Sturges of West Hartford; a daughter, Heather Sturges and significant other Nicholas Dumschott of Prospect; two grandsons, Timothy Hammond and Samuel M. Sturges of West Hartford; two granddaughters, Bianca M. Sturges of North Carolina and Billie-Jean Sturges of Oakville; a nephew, Lee Stallings of Prospect, that resided with him; his brothers John & Phyllis Sturges of Oakville and Howard & Denise Sturges of South Carolina; and several nieces & nephews.

Funeral will be held Dec. 6 at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Church in Prospect. Calling hours will be Dec. 5 from 5 to 8 p.m.
