WATERBURY – It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved
wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother Sandra Lee Derouin (Searles) age 76
of Waterbury on Wednesday July 26, 2023 at Glendale Assisted Care. She was the loving
wife of Theodore J. Derouin (Ted).


Sandra was born November 16, 1946 in Biddeford ME, the daughter of the late Arnold
and Pearl (Cormier) Searles.She was educated in Waterbury and graduated from Wilby
High School. Sandra was employed as a Secretary in the Healthcare field for many years.
She enjoyed eating out and playing games on the computer and her favorite holiday was
Thanksgiving. She loved to spend time with family and friends, most especially her grand
children and great grandchildren. Our family thanks you Mom, for every prayer you
uttered for us, for the many sacrifices you made for us, for thousands of hugs you shared
with us and the unending love you instilled in all of us.

Left to honor her and cherish her memory, her devoted husband of 56 years Ted, and her
sons; Christopher J Derouin and Kevin J Derouin along with Marcy Derouin, her
grandchildren; Kristina, Sarah, Emily, and Kayla and her great grandchildren; Hunter and
Alexander. She also leaves her brothers: Vernall and Helen Searles and Lawrence and
Judy Searles and sister-in-law, Rose Ellen Theriault and Geanie Derouin and a host of
nieces, nephews, godchildren, extended family and friends. Sandra is predeceased by her
brothers; Kenneth Searles and his wife, Annette and Arnold Searles Jr. as well as her in-
laws: Alfred Derouin and Dorothy Guerrera.

Relatives and friends may visit with the Derouin family on Thursday evening August 3,
2023 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and
Cremation Care 1987 East Main St Waterbury CT 06705. Funeral services for Mrs
Derouin will be held on Friday, August 4, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial
will follow in the State of CT, Veterans Cemetery, Bow Lane, Middletown.
