John Joseph Conti, 96 of Plainville, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, February 18, 2023.  He is now reunited with his wife, Theresa (Dzikot) Conti, who predeceased him in 2015.

Born in New Britain on June 19, 1926, he was one of five children to the late Salvatore and Vincenza (Briganti) Conti.  Raised and educated in New Britain, John and Theresa settled in Plainville where they shared 61 years of marriage, raised their two children and became proud grandparents.  John proudly served his country in the United States Navy, and was a heating and plumbing tradesman for a number of years, sharing his skills and expertise as a teacher at A.I. Prince Technical School in Hartford and W.F. Kaynor Technical School in Waterbury.   He and Theresa spent many years as snow birds wintering in Florida where they made many friends.  John found peace in spending his days fishing, and enjoyed taking trips to the casino.  He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #3675, the Southington Lodge of Elks #1669, or the American Legion Post 72.

He is survived by his daughter, Carol Sanderson of Berlin; his son, Ronald Conti of Plainville; his grandchildren, Kristin, Meaghan, and Kathryn Sanderson; and his great-granddaughters, Caissie and Kaylee Sanderson.  He also leaves his brother, Salvatore Conti, Jr. and many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his sister, Marie Schneider, his brothers, Joseph and James and his grandson, Kevin Conti.

Family and friends may gather on Friday February 24, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Plainville Funeral Home, 81 Broad St, Plainville.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Church, followed by committal with military honors at St. Joseph Cemetery.  For online expressions of sympathy, please visit www.PlainvilleFuneralHome.com
