Linda L. (Remokitis) Stanco, age 71, passed away unexpectedly yet peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, June 27, 2022 at Waterbury Hospital. She was the devoted wife of Jim Stanco.

Born in Waterbury, on April 5, 1951, Linda was the daughter of the late Anthony “Jack” and Marjorie (Fisher) Remokitis, Sr. The original “Boss”, Linda lived for her family and loved to be in her home. She was an amazing wife, mother and grandmother who adored her grandchildren whom she helped raise. She was proud of their accomplishments and never missed an event, game, or performance. She was an avid NY Yankee fan and enjoyed watching NASCAR races with Jim. Linda loved animals and nature. She fed and cared for a feral colony of cats, would not kill any living creature, and loved to paint butterflies and birds on rocks and gift them to family and friends.

In addition to Jim, her husband of 55 years, Linda is survived by her daughters Lisa Stanco and her partner Jeff Schmidt of Plymouth and Kathleen Fontaine and her husband Raymond of Wolcott; her beloved grandchildren Ian Schmidt who is attending school to be a P.A. in Poughkeepsie, NY and Ashley Fontaine who is an accountant in Boston, MA; and her sister Maryanne Simmons of Waterbury. She also leaves Jim’s family Kenny Stanco of Waterbury, Richie Stanco and his wife Pat of Wolcott, Teddy Stanco and his wife Joan of Watertown, Lana Stanco, Jean Stanco, and Jane Stanco all of Waterbury as well as several cousins and many friends. She was predeceased by her brother Anthony “Bobby” Remokitis, Jr., her brothers-in-law Ronnie Stanco and Tommy Stanco, and her sister-in-law Laurie Stanco.

Linda’s funeral will be held on Friday, July 1, 2022 at 9:00am from Maiorano Funeral Home, 95 Willow Street, Waterbury to the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception for a Mass at 10:00am. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Family and friends may visit with the family Thursday evening from 4:00-7:00pm at the funeral home.
