ANSONIA — William “Bill” F. Brown, age 82, a longtime Valley resident also of Leesburg, Fla., passed away July 1, 2016.

He was born March 27, 1934 in New Haven and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and former Civil Defense member. As a young man he worked as a mechanic and then as an electrician for Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford.

Bill was an avid car enthusiast and member of the Roaring ’20s Car Club, a HAM radio enthusiast(W1EGL) and a member of The Valley Heart Club.

He is survived by his three children, Diane Appicelli of Ansonia, Wendy Brown Mignosa of Hamden and Bill Brown of Torrington; as well as fiancée Arlene Hughes of Leesburg, Fla. He also leaves three grandchildren, Robert, Isabella and Gabriella Mignosa and will be remembered as beloved “Willard” by Karlene, Katie, Libby, Kimberly and Mitchell.

He was predeceased by his wife, Susan Brown and four sisters, Rose, Alice, Dorothy and Madeline.

Friends may call on Friday, July 22, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at The Jenkins King & Malerba Funeral Home, 12 Franklin St., Ansonia, Conn. (http://www.jenkinskingfh.com/). Funeral services will begin at 12 noon. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery in Ansonia.
