WATERBURY — Edith Sielski, 99, passed away Friday, Nov. 27, 2015, in the VITAS unit of Saint Mary’s Hospital. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Theodore Sielski.

Mrs. Sielski was born Oct. 21, 1916, in Waterbury, daughter of the late Edward and Bertha (Neumann) Steinnagel.

Edith’s secret for living 99 healthy years was her passion for taking long walks, especially to downtown Waterbury of old. She enjoyed taking long rides with the love of her life, Teddy, playing pinochle with her mom and sister, and also rummy with anyone who would play with her. She especially enjoyed making dinner on Friday nights where all the family would gather and visit.

She is survived by her five loving daughters, Beverly and her husband, Ronald Plourde, of Waterbury, Gaile and her husband, Raymond Caruso, of Middlebury, Helen and her husband, Douglas Austin, of Waterbury, Roberta Dorso and her longtime companion, Angelo Fusco, of Prospect, and Judith and her husband, Rocco Becce, of Thomaston; a brother, Raymond Steinnagel of Waterbury; 13 grandchildren, Lori, Carolyn, Christine, Ronald, Robin, Sandra, Jan, Beth, Paula, Steven, Anthony, Courtney, Ted and Hallie; and 22 great-grandchildren. Edith was predeceased by four brothers and one sister.

Arrangements: Mrs. Sielski’s funeral will begin 9:15 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2015, from The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Waterbury, 270 West Main St., 06702, and proceed to St. Patrick’s Church, 50 Charles St., Waterbury 06708, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery, 203 Spring Lake Road, Waterbury 06706. Calling hours will be held 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 30, 2015, at the funeral home.
