Mrs. Julia T. Ciavarella, age 95, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at Village Green of Waterbury, six weeks after her beloved husband of 72 years, Rocco, passed away. She was the loving wife of the late Rocco Ciavarella.

Mrs. Ciavarella was born on March 5, 1920, in Winooski, VT, She was the daughter of the late Charles and Anna (Campo) Monti. Julia worked for Eyelet Specialty Company as a representative for over 30 years until her retirement. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, and playing bingo, and most of all, her trips to the casino to play her cherry machine. Active through her 90’s and generous to all, Julia was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved to spend time with her family.

Julia is survived by her sons, Leonard Ciavarella of West Haven, and Rocco Ciavarella Jr. and his wife Gale of Waterbury; her daughters, Felicia LaRosa of Waterbury and Anna Carlson and her companion Dean Sidowski of Waterbury. Julia also leaves behind her grandchildren, Leonard Ciavarella, Jr. and his wife Lisa, Lynn Ciavarella, Sheila Murray and her husband Dan, Jason Carlson and his wife Jenn and Jessica Carlson; her great-grandchildren, Leonard III, Vincent, Anthony, Ethan, Jared, and Willow Grace and her sister Lucy Bissonette and her husband Will of Waterbury, her sisters-in-law, Fran Monti and Laura Monti as well as several nieces and nephews. Julia was predeceased by her daughter-in-law, Amelia Ciavarella, her son-in-law, Victor LaRosa, her brothers Joseph Monti, Charlie Monti, and Ralph Monti and her sisters Carmela Leopizzo and Rose Simpson.

Julia’s family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the nurses, nurses’ aides, and the entire staff of Village Green for their outstanding and compassionate care shown to Julia and Rocco during their time there.

The funeral will be held on Friday, May 22, 2015 at 9:00am at Maiorano Funeral Home, 95 Willow St., Waterbury with a service from 10:00-10:30am. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
