Thomas Joseph Gworek, 72, of Plainville, passed away at his home on Sunday, March 9, 2014.
Born in New Britain on October 14, 1941, he was one of seven children to the late Albert W. and Nellie H. (Machowski) Gworek. A resident since 1951, he was a graduate of Plainville High School and longtime member of the Knight of Columbus. He was an inspector for Fafnir Bearing. Known for his passion for fishing, Tom also enjoyed gardening, watching UCONN women’s basketball, and attending classic car shows with the Brass City Cruisers. A huge Elvis fan, he was proud to visit Graceland in 2011.

He is survived by his sisters, Ann Oparowski of Plainville, Helen Lombardo and her husband, James of New Britain, and Theresa Perzan and her husband, Louis of New Britain; his sisters-in-law, Wanda Gworek of Florida and Dorothy Marut Gworek of New Britain; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his brothers, Eddie and Raymond Gworek, his sister, Dorothy Moskites and nephews, Jeffrey and Donald Moskites.

Tom’s family extends their gratitude to his network of friends, neighbors and health care professionals for their help and support throughout the years.

Funeral services in celebration of Tom’s life will be held on Thursday at 9 a.m. from Bailey Funeral Home, 48 Broad St, Plainville, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m.at Our Lady of Mercy Church. Committal services will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery, New Britain. Family and friends may gather on Wednesday evening, from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
