PROSPECT — Mrs. Grace D. (Hullstrunk) Monroe, age 83, passed away Friday, Sept. 23, 2011, at Saint Mary’s Hospital after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Jack H. Monroe.
Grace was born in Waterbury on Sept. 16, 1928, daughter of the late Joseph and Dorothy (Allen) Hullstrunk. She lived in Prospect for 54 years, and she retired from Uniroyal Inc. after 25 years of service. She was a past member of the Uniroyal Girls Club, and she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She leaves a son, Robert A. Monroe of Naugatuck; three daughters, June Alice Rivera and her husband, Luis, and Holly Grace Demers, all of Naugatuck, and Pennie Marie Monroe of Prospect; and her grandchildren, Michael Strenk, Timothy Demers and his wife, Nicole, Christopher Strenk and his wife, Meghan, Michelle Rivera, Carrie Monroe, Mathew Demers and Sarah Stronkowsky, and Brittany Monroe.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2011, at 10 a.m. at the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main St., Naugatuck. Burial will follow in Wooster Cemetery, East Waterbury Road, Naugatuck. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home Monday evening from 5 to 8 p.m.
