WATERBURY — Ms. Josephine “Jo” M. Bombaci, 84, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, April 14, 2011, at her home.
Ms. Bombaci was born Jan. 19, 1927, in Waterbury, daughter of the late Luciano and Frances (Perez) Bombaci. Josephine worked as an administrative assistant at Scovill Manufacturing for more than 44 years until her retirement. She was a longtime parishioner of Sacred Heart Church and volunteered as a “greeter” at Waterbury Hospital for many years.

Jo, a strong, independent woman, was devoted to her family and friends. She was a talented seamstress and quilter who loved to cook and bake for her loved ones and cared deeply for her family as well as her extended family and friends.

Jo is survived by her loving nieces and nephews, Frank Cipriano and his wife, Jackie, Linda Piche and her husband, Ray, Paula Platt, Frances Newton and her husband, Mark, Carole Daly and her husband, Tim, Jean Rinaldi and her husband, John, Nancy Bombaci and her companion, Robert McGuire, Ralph Perillo and his wife, Helen, Rose Aurio, Robert Perillo, and Frances Lanzara and her husband, Frank; several grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Sylvester “Sal” Bombaci, her sisters, Anne M. Cipriano and Jennie Perillo, and her nephews, Bob Platt and Frank Aurio.

The funeral will be held 10 a.m. Monday, April 18, 2011, from Maiorano Funeral Home, 95 Willow St., Waterbury, to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church for Mass at 11 a.m.
Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon from 3 to 5 p.m.
