Mrs. Joan (Dunn) Meskunas of Waterbury passed away on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at Waterbury Hospital. She was the widow of Peter A. “Gus” Meskunas, and is survived by her son, Peter J. Meskunas and his fiancee Deborah Clock both of Waterbury;Joan was born in Waterbury on July 31, 1932 daughter of the late James and Hazel (LeMay) Dunn. She lived in Watertown for 26 years, and attended Watertown High School, moving to Waterbury in 1959. She worked for Princeton Knitting Mills, Hemmingway & Bartlett and Chemech in Watertown, and later for Waterbury Hospital.

Joan was a devout Catholic and was a communicant of St. Anthony’s Church in Prospect. She enjoyed cooking and baking, and feeding wild animals. She loved spending time with her family; especially her sisters.

Joan is survived by her four sisters: Shirley D’Amico and her husband Frank, Marian Guerin and her husband Philip, Nancy Collier and her husband Robert all of Watertown, and Hazel Gallary and her husband John of Middlebury; her brothers: James Dunn and Philip Dunn both of Palm Bay, FL; all her devoted nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank in particular the 9th Floor Staff of Waterbury Hospital for the care and compassion shown to Joan and her family.

Arrangements: A mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, 10:00 AM at St. Anthony’s Church in Prospect. Friends are asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Watertown. Calling hours are Friday, 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home 430 Chase Parkway Waterbury.
