WATERBURY – Sylvester Fox Jr., age 71 of Waterbury, passed away unexpectedly at home on Monday, Jan. 18, 2021. He was the husband of Doris (Ferrell) Fox.

Sylvester as born July 10, 1949, in Charleston, Mich., the son of the late Sylvester and Rosie (Taylor) Fox. He graduated from Harvey High School in Plainsville, Ohio, and he spent 25 years working as a sheet metal worker at the Siemon Co. in Watertown.

He was an avid member of the Cadillac Lasalle Club and he was also an avid baseball and football fan. Sylvester enjoyed his beer, peanuts and his friends who will miss him dearly.

Left to honor Sylvester’s love and legacy besides his wife, Doris, are his daughter, Regina Smith and her husband, John. He also leaves his siblings, Alma Fox and her husband Owens, of Downington, Pa., Mary Fox and her husband Elijah, of Ledson, S.C., Gwendolyn Fox El Amin and her husband Nuumo Taaliib, of Youngsville, N.C., Melvin Fox and his wife Cherie, Beverly Fox Smith and her husband James, of Oxford, Pa., and Kenneth Fox and his wife Estella, of Columbus, Ohio; as well as many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, aunts and friends to cherish his memory.

He was predeceased by his son Brian, and brother Gilbert.

Funeral services for Mr. Fox will be on Saturday, Jan. 23, at 2 p.m. at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1987 E. Main St. at Southmayd Road, Waterbury, CT 06705. All governmental restrictions related to COVID-19, including limitations of no more than 50 guests inside the facility at any time, will be strictly enforced. A walk-through visitation only for the public will be from noon until the service at 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
